What is smaller government? Trimming expenses to cut debt or creating more money to spend to create more debt? As we know, over 12,000 of Detroit residents are suffering from an attempt of water privatization due to absurd water shut-offs. However, the entire country of the United States Postal Employees, who are members of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), will suffer from the union between the government and Staples organization of privatizing mail.
According to the APWU News Bulletin and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) blog, the United States Postal Service (USPS) and Staples joined together last October to form a pilot program of contracting postal services to 80 – 82 Staples stores. It is said that these pilot stores have implemented postal counters where Staples employees will manage the mail services at a low wage. The ultimate idea is to privatize post office operations so the USPS can therefore neglect the responsibility to increase wages for union postal workers, cut hours (eventually staff), and pay less for staffing. The selling point of this joint effort is convenience for the customer. The AFL-CIO says the USPS has plans to implement contracting services to 1,500 Staples Stores across the country.
Could the conspiracies of “privatization” be the ultimate plan to reestablish a new system of slavery?
Could privatization be about racism? Although racism is about power, privatization is absolutely about power and calculated distribution. Are the people of this great nation being hoodwinked right before our very own eyes through privatization, which seems to be shifting people into a class distinction?
What has led the United States to this sudden blatant disappointment of a government that we once believed was democratic? Now that politics = no integrity, no democracy, no hope for the middle class, no bright future for the young and mixed generations, a failing education system, a government of thieves, what will happen next?
Are we living in the end of times? Are people taking the book of Revelations seriously? Or, are people hoping that the United States Government will provide hope once again?
