Since the jury of the Zimmerman’s case declared him not guilty, rage has covered the nation along with supportive protests. In response to the verdict and the outpouring of commentaries from news reporters, talk shows, and conversations with random people, some things never change.

However, with so much changing in our government; new marriage laws for all, stand your ground rights, right to work for certain states, you wonder why people are yet feeling OPPRESSED? Culture as we know currently forces people to choose one way over another. Then “Culture” leaves individuals to feel guilty about the choice they made; whether the choice is to be unapologetic about one’s faith or to be unapologetic about one’s belief on the killing of young men, who happens to be a certain race, culture is not what she use to be, which makes it that much more necessary for people to have faith in something more than government.

The world we live in has changed, and in many ways have not changed. People are encouraged to believe they have fair rights which can also be unjust and supersede justice. What is justice today and who decides it? Accordingly, justice is a man “disregarding” an authoritative command to stand down and wait for police officials to appear on the scene to instead, fulfill his man given right to stand his ground while not in imminent danger run after a “fleeing” young man to kill him in self-defense. Well, who decided that the previous behavior was justified, man did. When reading what I’m about to say next, some may quiver in their skin, while others man shout “Amen”.

World Culture vs. God’s Culture
We live in a spiritual atmosphere, therefore, situations will happen that we sometimes will not be able to fathom no matter how much science and logic we attempt to use. And no, it’s not okay to say, “That’s just the way it is.” However, because we live in a spiritual atmosphere, which makes us spiritual beings, we all have assignments whether people like it or not. People are called and sent on assignments to fulfill prophecy so that what has been said will come to past. If you are a believer of the living word then you know exactly what I’m talking about – living a life of faith. Am I saying Zimmerman was sent on assignment to murder a young boy and to live a free life while thousands are angst about the results? Not quite. What am I saying is that the culture we live in today has always been created through man’s choices because man was given the free will to have a choice. As we know historically, man’s choices have in many ways caused others to suffer and for man to depart from the creator, which has caused chaos and the world to be out of order.

So what am I saying? Choose to be angry but where will that get you? Rallying. Yes. Advocating for a cause. Yes. Getting revenge. No. Choose to forgive. Where will that get you? Peace within. Yes. A healthier view on life. I hope so. Someone getting off and not paying for their ill choices. No. Choose to live by a faith outside of yourself. Where will that get you? Definitely not selfish but hopefully selfless. Optimistic. Yes. Subservient. I hope so.

During this time while the nation grieves Trayvon Martin’s death along with other unjust murders of young African, Latin, Native, Asian, European American males, and other men of other ethnicities, advocate for the right reasons; support the families who have experienced the immediate lost; celebrate the lives of the deceased to keep their spirit alive; and let go of the negative energy that only in turn kills your spirit.
